The 3rd WHO Symposium on Meaningful Engagement of People Living with NCDs, Mental Health and Neurological Conditions

The WHO Global Coordination Mechanism on NCDs is hosting the Third Symposium on the Meaningful Engagement of People Living with Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs), Mental Health, and Neurological Conditions, to be held on 24 April 2025 as part of the Second General Meeting of the WHO Global Coordination Mechanism on NCDs (GCM/NCD).

The Third WHO Symposium and the GCM/NCD SGM are key milestones in the lead-up to the United Nations General Assembly's Fourth High-Level Meeting (HLM4) on NCDs and Mental Health, scheduled for September 2025.

The Symposium will bring together Member States, civil society organizations, people with lived experience (PWLE), and international partners to explore and exchange practical approaches to implementing meaningful engagement across diverse contexts. It will also serve as a platform to present the key advocacy messages co-developed by the PWLE community and outline next steps for action in the lead-up to HLM4 and beyond.

Participation in the virtual symposium will be prioritized for people who have engaged in previous symposium meetings, contributed to the development of the WHO Framework on Meaningful Engagement of People Living with NCDs, Mental Health, and Neurological Conditions, or participated in the co-creation of the advocacy messages.

To ensure inclusive engagement, the event will be potentially livestreamed, with further details to be shared ahead of the meeting. A public Google Form is available to pre-submit questions and comments, some of which may be addressed during the session.
