This article explores a pioneering self‑care initiative led by HelpAge partner Ageing Nepal, which equips older individuals with the tools to manage their own wellbeing. Delivered through two-day workshops in Kathmandu’s Senior Citizens Day Care Centres, the training covers nutrition, hydration, physical activity, sleep, and mental wellbeing, using a locally adapted version of HelpAge's Self‑Care for Healthy Ageing guide. The programme not only promotes better health but also strengthens confidence, peer support, and community leadership among participants many of whom go on to facilitate self-care sessions themselves. With over 10% of Nepal’s population aged 60+ and traditional family support systems shifting fast, this model offers a promising and replicable approach to community-based healthy ageing.
