Santé Diabète is launching a new MOOC, available for free in French on the Campus AFD platform. Registration is now open. This MOOC is a collaborative project between Santé Diabète, the Chair of Philosophy at the Hospital, the Chair of Humanities and Health at CNAM, with the support of Campus AFD.
It offers a comprehensive exploration of global health challenges, focusing on epidemiological, demographic, and nutritional transitions, as well as the rapid rise of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes in Africa. The course also sheds light on health systems’ responses to chronic diseases and the role of care.
The international teaching team includes world-renowned experts such as Simón Barquera Cervera (advocate of the soda tax in Mexico), Malek Batal (nutrition specialist, Canada), David Beran (access to medicines, Switzerland), Stéphane Besançon (professor of global health, France), Cynthia Fleury (professor of philosophy, France), Alioune Tine (Senegalese activist), and Michel Sidibé (Special Envoy of the African Union to the African Medicines Agency). These experts will share their knowledge through videos, podcasts, interactive activities, and quizzes.
The MOOC, with an estimated duration of six hours, offers a variety of learning formats, including expert and motion design videos, testimonial podcasts, quizzes and interactive activities, as well as final assessments that allow participants to obtain a certificate of completion. This comprehensive, interdisciplinary, and accessible approach helps learners better understand health challenges and discover practical solutions to take action in daily life. A learning community is also established to encourage exchanges and the sharing of experiences.
The MOOC is aimed at healthcare professionals, students, and development actors.
