New ISN Course: Early Detection & Prevention of Kidney Disease for Non-Physician HCWs

ISN has launched a new short, online course designed for non-physician healthcare workers to support early detection and prevention of kidney disease. The course features short video modules in simple language, practical screening tools (blood pressure, blood sugar, urine tests), and offers CME credits on completion.

Purpose:

Educating non-physician healthcare workers about the basics of kidney diseases is essential for early detection, timely referral, and prevention of complications in at-risk populations. These frontline providers often serve as the first point of contact, especially in resource-limited or rural settings where access to nephrologists is scarce. By equipping them with fundamental knowledge of kidney anatomy, physiology, risk factors, and common screening tools, such as blood pressure and blood sugar measurements, they can play a vital role in identifying early signs of chronic kidney disease (CKD), promoting lifestyle changes, and guiding patients toward appropriate care pathways. This not only enhances community-level awareness but also strengthens the overall kidney care delivery system.

 Target Audience:

Non-physician healthcare workers (primarily) - Community Health Workers (CHWs), Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), Nurses and Nurse Practitioners, Dialysis technicians, Pharmacists, Para-medical staff. Additionally- General practitioners, Family physicians, General physicians, Nephrologists.

In order to access the course the user will need to register to the ISN – Academy portal.
