Pakistan hosts a significant population of children and young people living with type 1 diabetes, many of whom face severe financial and geographic barriers in accessing lifesaving insulin and diabetes supplies. The Promise of Insulin (POI) program, implemented by Meethi Zindagi, addresses these challenges through a holistic support model that combines insulin provision, glucose monitoring supplies, cold-chain delivery, education, and psychosocial support.
In 2025 alone, POI supported over 1,200 children across more than 150 cities and towns, including remote and underserved regions such as Barkhan and Kohlu in Balochistan. The program enrolled 200+ new children from 40+ new cities, expanded eco-friendly cold-chain delivery systems, and enabled 21 young people to successfully graduate, demonstrating long-term impact beyond survival.
By ensuring uninterrupted insulin access and promoting dignity, resilience, and education, the POI program contributes directly to improving health equity and quality of life for children living with type 1 diabetes in Pakistan. The initiative is sustained through zakat, donations, and partnerships, and aligns with global NCD and UHC priorities.
