The Lived Experience of Childhood Cancer Survivors and Their Parents: A Multi-National Study of Access to Survivorship Care and Information and Support Needs HQ Cancer Team

1 in 5 people are diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Nearly every family around the world is affected by cancer, either directly or as caregivers of someone who has had cancer. A cancer diagnosis can have a profound effect on the health and well-being of all those involved.

In 2022, WHO launched a global campaign to amplify the voices of those affected by cancer, to build on the existing WHO Framework for Meaningful Engagement of People Living with NCDs, Mental Health and Neurological Conditions (PLWNCDs). A global survey aiming to understand the psychosocial and financial impact of cancer on people diagnosed with cancer as children and as adults, their families/caregivers, and the family members of those who have died from cancer, in a diversity of settings (HIC and LMIC) was distributed by WHO in three languages (English, Spanish, and French).

This study reports a subanalysis of the data obtained from people diagnosed with cancer as children, their families, and caregivers.
