International Childhood Cancer Day 2026

On this International Childhood Cancer Day, the World Health Organization and its Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer reaffirms our commitment to saving lives. While progress has been made, too many children around the world still lack access to timely diagnosis, quality treatment, and comprehensive care.

Catching cancer early and starting care right away can make a lifechanging difference for a child.

Early diagnosis consists of:

  • knowing the signs and symptoms

  • accurate and timely diagnosis

  • quick access to treatment

Today, we call for strengthening childhood cancer programmes worldwide, closing equity gaps, and continuing to improve efforts so that more children have access to quality care.
