Alzheimer's Disease International
At the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025, Alzheimer's Disease International will be hosting a crucial side event in order to raise the profile of dementia within the context of the 4th UN High-Level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
This event will highlight existing NCD frameworks and explore the existing gap where dementia is concerned. Despite being the fifth leading cause of death among NCDs globally, and projected to become the third overall cause of death by 2040, dementia continues to be omitted from key frameworks and policies, hindering efforts to address the condition’s growing burden. With many of dementia’s most prominent risk factors shared with other NCDs, there is a clear rationale and need to integrate dementia into global efforts to address the rising prevalence of NCDs.
