Being above a healthy weight is a leading preventable cause of cancer, but less than half of all Australians are aware of this link. There is now strong evidence that being above a healthy weight and having increased toxic or visceral fat around your organs, can trigger 13 types of cancer. Almost 4,000 cancer cases in Australia in 2010 were thought to be attributable to being above a healthy weight.
We want to raise awareness of this and encourage people to make healthy lifestyle choices. One way you can reduce your risk of weight gain is to avoid sugary drinks.
