Call for action: Commit to clean air and protect health

The World Health Organization is calling on governments, institutions, cities, and civil society to commit to urgent action for cleaner air and healthier lives. As a follow-up to the WHO 2nd Global Conference on Air Pollution and Health, stakeholders are invited to join a global movement aiming to reduce the health impacts of air pollution by 50% by 2040 (baseline: 2015).

Commitments can span across key action areas including:

  • Governance, policy and finance (e.g. aligning air quality standards, cross-sector collaboration)
  • Institutional capacity (e.g. health professional training, impact assessments, research)
  • Leadership and awareness (e.g. campaigns, public engagement, surveillance systems)

Over 50 countries, cities, donors, and institutions have already pledged. Your organisation can join this collective effort by submitting a voluntary commitment by 7 September 2025, the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies.

Make your impact count, take action now to build a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future.
