The APCA Atlas of Palliative Care in Africa 2025 is a report on the state of palliative care in Africa, revealing that services are underdeveloped and essential medicines are scarce, though there has been uneven progress. It was officially launched at the APCA Conference in Botswana in September 2025 and was developed in collaboration with the African Palliative Care Association (APCA), the Universidad de Navarra, and the WHO Collaborating Centre for the Global Monitoring of Palliative Care Development. The Atlas highlights that over 17.5 million people need palliative care annually, with insufficient integration into health systems and limited training hindering the ability to address serious health-related suffering.
