An incredible milestone for paediatric oncology nutrition research!
On 25th October 2025, the SIOP Nutrition Network organised the First SIOP Nutrition Research Forum, which took place at the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology in Utrecht—a landmark event for our field.
We want to thank SIOP for the funding to held the Forum, Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology (Utrecht) provided the use of their facilities and the University of Exeter funded the publication fees.
This forum brought together >50 international experts from both LMIC and HIC settings to present cutting-edge work and define the global research agenda for the next 5 years.
Key highlights from the forum included:
1. Standardising nutritional assessment (beyond BMI, including body composition and function)
2. Harmonising core outcomes across studies
3. Embedding high-quality interventional trials within treatment pathways & integrating prehabilitation (during treatment) and rehabilitation (after treatment) into care
4. Advancing microbiome research towards clinical application
5. Prioritising micronutrients, including interpretation and clinical relevance during treatment
6. Developing and implementing international nutrition guidelines during treatment for HIC
7. Strengthening global collaboration and equitable research across LMIC and HIC settings
A huge congratulations to all presenters, delegates and contributors who made this forum possible.
We are very proud to announce that the Meeting report was just published in Nutrients and available link below.
