WHA78 Lung Health Resolution (2025): Promoting and prioritizing an integrated lung health approach

This landmark resolution, adopted at the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA78) in May 2025, sets out a comprehensive framework to advance integrated lung health globally.

The resolution addresses the full spectrum of lung health, including:

  •    Noncommunicable lung diseases (asthma, COPD, lung cancer)
  •    Communicable lung diseases (pneumonia, tuberculosis)
  •    Key risk factors (tobacco, air pollution, occupational exposures)

It calls on Member States to strengthen integrated lung health approaches through primary care, supported by a whole-of-government and whole-of-society perspective.

This resource is now available to download and use in advocacy, programme development, and policy dialogue. It provides an important opportunity for WHO, Member States and partners to align efforts, identify strategic gaps, and scale up action on lung health.
