The NCD issue: What are the gaps and needs your project is addressing?
The Punjab, a prosperous state of India has high prevalence of obesity, hypertension, diabetes and all other NCDs. As per 2022 report the prevalence of hypertension in Punjab was 40.1%. In Punjab, only 48.3% of the hypertensive were aware of their condition. Similarly, the prevalence of diabetes was 14.3 % in Punjab. In Punjab 34.2% of diabetics were aware of their condition. Family history of diabetes and hypertension was found to be associated with higher odds of being aware of treatment. There is a need to accelerate efforts for embedding meaningful involvement of People living with NCDs within Punjab- India
