The latest annual report from the Global Psoriasis Atlas (GPA), detailing the structure and objectives of the atlas, as well as progress made in their four key research areas in the last year. One particular focal point of this report is SKINSCAPE, their 2023 skin disease field survey in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Together with international collaborators, including members of the Global Atopic Dermatitis Atlas (GADA), the GPA team visited two rural villages in an under-resourced province where they characterized and treated hundreds of people with skin disease. Also highlighted is their contributions to the 2023 World Congress of Dermatology (WCD) in Singapore and other international meetings, as well as their eight publications in high impact dermatology journals. Within the report is information on the future directions of the GPA in their final Phase (2023-2026), and how to get involved with the work.
Led by Professor Chris Griffiths OBE, the GPA is a collaboration between three leading international organisations in world dermatology: the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS); the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations (IFPA); and the International Psoriasis Council (IPC) with The University of Manchester (UoM) as the lead academic institution. The GPA was established in 2016, in part to address the World Health Organization’s (WHO) challenge for further research into the global prevalence and incidence of psoriasis thereby ensuring better access to care for any person with the disease. The GPA is currently in the second year of their third Phase.
