Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (GACD)
Launched in 2009 the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (GACD) brings together major international health research funding agencies specifically to address the growing burden of chronic non communicable diseases (NCDs). Our mission is to reduce the burden of chronic NCDs in LMICs, and in populations facing conditions of vulnerability in high-income countries, by building evidence to inform national and international NCD policies and hence to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals under section 3.4. We work towards this mission through three key strategic approaches : Investing in impactful NCD research; Building implementation science capacity and capability in relation to NCDs; Facilitating collaborations and partnerships to support GACD investment and impact In 2023 GACD had jointly supported more than 160 research international projects at a total commitment of more than US$300m collaborating across more than 80 countries worldwide.
