COVID-19 and cervical cancer - A pandemic’s impact and a global response

While the global public health field has always been acutely aware of the potential for a worldwide pandemic, none of us could have anticipated COVID-19's profound impact during the past year. Organisations working tirelessly to expand access to cervical cancer prevention and treatment have not been spared by COVID-19's disruption. Amidst the ever-widening global pandemic, cervical cancer took the lives of 342,000 women in 2020. Without decisive action, this figure will increase markedly over the coming years.
